Coca-Cola İçecek's Wage Policy is Officially “Equal”

18.09.2023

Coca-Cola İçecek (CCI) has been awarded the “Equal-Salary Certification” by the Equal-Salary Foundation, which scientifically evaluates salary inequalities within organizations. Accordingly, Coca-Cola İçecek has become the first bottling company in the world to receive the Equal-Salary Certification and the first Türkiye-based global company to obtain this certificate. Additionally, Coca-Cola İçecek became the first company in Uzbekistan, Iraq, Azerbaijan, Kyrgyzstan, Turkmenistan and Tajikistan to receive the Equal-Salary Certification.

As a part of its 2030 Sustainability Commitments, CCI voluntarily applied to the Equal-Salary Foundation for the certification process. The company was audited by PricewaterhouseCoopers (PwC) and awarded the Equal-Salary Certification after a detailed review process. CCI thus became the first bottling company in the world to receive this certification. CCI also became the first Türkiye-based global company to hold this certification and the first company to receive this certification in Uzbekistan, Iraq, Azerbaijan, Kyrgyzstan, Turkmenistan and Tajikistan.

Melis Tunaveli: “Equality is at the heart of our 2030 Sustainability Commitments.”

Melis Tunaveli, Coca-Cola İçecek Human Resources Executive Board Member, commented that the Equal-Salary Certification is one of the most important milestones in CCI's journey to achieve its sustainability commitments. Tunaveli said, “Equality is the most important pillar of our future and it is at the heart of our 2030 Sustainability Commitments. It is a great honor to receive this certificate and to make a name for ourselves as a pioneer in our sector and the geographies we operate. We know we have a lot more to do for equality. We will continue our commitment to equality not because it is a requirement of the certification, but because it is in the DNA of our company.”

Noémie Storbeck, CEO of the Equal-Salary Foundation, said: “Equal-Salary Certification is a solid foundation for building a sustainable future.”

Noémie Storbeck commented that the Equal-Salary Certification is a solid foundation for building a sustainable future in its broadest sense. Storbeck continued, “Coca-Cola İçecek is the first bottling company in the world to receive Equal-Salary certification. Having positioned sustainability as a priority, CCI has decided to invest in its diverse workforce and this is the right thing to do.”

Pay inequality in organizations is independently evaluated with a scientific approach

The Equal-Salary Certification is awarded by the Equal-Salary Foundation from Switzerland that independently evaluates pay inequality in organizations using a scientific approach. Their certification demonstrates that an organization pays their female and male employees equally for equal work. The Equal-Salary Certification allows organizations to earn a place among best employers with their equal pay approach as a part of their diversity and equality principles and it also contributes to the employer’s brand. The Equal-Salary Certification is awarded by the Equal-Salary Foundation following a comprehensive audit and the certificate is valid for 3 years. During this 3 years term, the company undergoes surveillance audits that check whether the efforts and actions taken by the company as well as the successful status still continues. At the end of the 3-year period, the companies that wish to renew their certificate need to reapply to the foundation.
