Our CSR Report

CSR Report Jan 2009 - Dec 2010CCI’s first CSR report, published in 2007, was issued in compliance with GRI G3 principles, the  most commonly used reporting framework in the world. This was the first CSR report in Turkey sanctioned by GRI .

GRI Board Chairman Mervyn E. King, attending the International Corporate Governance Conference held in Istanbul on January 14-15, stated that he was quite pleased to see developments in sustainability in Turkey and went on to say, "I congratulate CCI as the first company in Turkey to receive GRI application level check. I am pleased to see that Coca-Cola İçecek has made a giant step toward sustainability using the corporate citizenship guidelines of The Coca-Cola Company as a foundation and has become a pioneer in  Turkey.”

CCI’s second report, covering our non financial performance and new practices between March 2008 and March 2009, was prepared at GRI B level following GRI G3 guidelines and principles, making it a more comprehensive and advanced report than our first CSR report.

CCI’s latest CSR report was released in August 2011 certified by GRI as G3 level B.  The report covers the company’s CSR performance and activities for the years 2009 and 2010, focusing on four pillars: marketplace, workplace, environment and community. This year we have further increased the geographic scope of our report to include Azerbaijan in addition to Turkey, Kazakhstan and Jordan.

Global Reporting Initiative (GRI)

In 1997, the Coalition for Environmentally Responsible Economies (CERES) in Boston, United States, came up with the concept of a universal framework to measure and report on  organizational, economic, environmental and social performance. CERES established partnerships with the United Nations Environment Programme – UNEP – and UN Global Compact and formed GRI as an independent institution which aims to create conditions for the transparent and reliable exchange of sustainability information through the development and continuous improvement of the GRI Sustainability Reporting Framework.

GRI's Reporting Framework is developed through a consensus-seeking, multi-stakeholder process. Participants are drawn from global business, civil society, labor, academic and professional institutions. The Reporting Framework sets out the principles and Performance Indicators that organizations can use to measure and report their economic, environmental, and social performance.

There are three different Application Levels: A, B & C. Reporters are required to assess their Application Level.
