Community
We care about the needs and expectations of local communities everywhere we operate and support solutions that respond to community needs. We establish and maintain an effective dialogue with stakeholders that can directly or indirectly affect or be affected by CCI’s operations. In this context we are in constant collaboration with the relevant stakeholders.
Life Plus Foundation
Pursuant to its Articles of Association, CCI transfers a certain portion of its earnings before tax to organizations that create social benefit. The “Life Plus Youth Program” is one of the programs supported in this context.
Implemented in cooperation with the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) and Coca-Cola Turkey, the “Life Plus Youth Program” supports young people who develop environmental and social projects. The program has supported numerous projects to date in various regions of Turkey. These projects include developing application models for drip irrigation, increasing awareness on drought and pollution, promoting the use of renewable energy sources and recycling of solid waste. Since 2008, the “Life Plus Youth Program” continues its activities under the “Coca-Cola Life Plus Foundation”.
Supporting Pakistan
Right after the flood disaster, the Coca-Cola System was one of the first to start an aid campaign in Pakistan. Within one week, we allocated a very significant contribution with more than $500,000 cash and identified potential disaster relief organizations to collaborate. We immediately started shipping safe drinking water and distributed 2 million liters of drinking water from CCI’s plants in Pakistan. Additionally, we provided 1,150 water proof tents and distributed food items to over 3,200 displaced families directly and 1,000 families indirectly. We collaborated with NGOs and supported relief efforts and medical services for thousands of displaced persons.
In cooperation with NGOs and local governments, we distributed our products (Coca-Cola, Minute Maid) to over 87,000 people in 7 different districts of Pakistan. Moreover, we participated in Eidfestival for flood victims in Muzaffargarh and distributed our products to over 3,000 people. The Coca-Cola Company, The Coca-Cola Foundation and CCI’s extra efforts led the total amount of contributions exceed $1 million. We are committed to support Pakistan community in this hard time, hence our contribution will continue as needed, both as emergency response as well as with long term, sustainable engagements. Our aim is to support Pakistani people, through reconstruction and rehabilitation projects, which they will need in the medium and long-term. Our employees are actively involved in the humanitarian relief efforts since day one. While distributors provide support locally, management is actively engaged with the authorities for the implementation of relief plans. Our efforts include collaborations with Pakistan Red Crescent Society, SAHARA Foundation, PANI Pakistan, Education Health and Development Foundation, Punjab State Chief Minister's Foundation, for tents and shelter homes, establishment of medical camps and free food facilities, drinking water and food distribution.
